Abstract: Promoting and protecting health is essential to human well-being and to sustainable economic and social development. This was recognized more than 30 years ago by the signatories of the Alma Ata Declaration, who stated that Health for All would contribute to a better quality of life as well as peace and security in the global scale. Education, housing, food and employment all have an impact on health, which led us to ask ourselves the question of exploring common risk factors for non-communicable diseases. The objective is to determine the prevalence and analysis of knowledge on common risk factors for non-communicable diseases among 30 subjects aged over 35 in the city of Lubumbashi. This is a cross-sectional descriptive study which took place from June 30 to July 30, 2021 in the city of Lubumbashi. The calculations of prevalence and general characteristics were carried out by descriptive analysis. Then followed the analysis of knowledge and risk factors of non-communicable diseases, we used Stata 16.1 and QDA Miner Lite 1.4.3 software. The prevalence of Non-Communicable Diseases was 1 (100%). The age group of 35 to 40 years old constitutes the modal class with 36.70%, the male sex was equal to the female sex with a sex ratio of 1. Respondents consuming less than 4 to 5 fruits per day are represented with only 20 samples out of a total of 30 i.e. 66.67%, consumption of alcoholic beverages in 26 cases, i.e. 86,67%, non-consumption of tobacco is poorly represented 3.33%, physical exercise is practiced less with a number of 21 cases or 70% among the respondents. The modes of contamination of non-communicable diseases are relatively well known among these actors who often cite the use of alcoholic beverages, smoking (tobacco leaf). At the end of this cross-sectional descriptive study, we note the reflection of insufficient health education exposing to the risk of non-communicable diseases, as well as for provide quality care and services to the Lushoise population, sufficient resources must be allocated to nutrition programs for proper awareness of the nutritional transition.

Abstract: Background: Incautious utilization of drugs by pregnant women for therapeutic reasons may result in severe functional and structural damages in the developing fetus. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and associated factors of prescribed drug use among pregnant women at public health center in Gurage Zone, Southern Ethiopia. Methods: Institution based cross sectional study was conducted on pregnant women. Data was collected from patient charts and interviewing pregnant women by using standard data collection tools. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 23.0 and multinomial logistic regression model was utilized estimate association across different study variables. P-values <0.05 were considered statistically significant. Results: Of a total of 418 pregnant women, about 91.1% were prescribed with at least one medication and there were an average 2.4 numbers of drugs per a prescription. Pregnant women with comorbidity were AOR = 19.66, 95% CI (8.747-44.218), who visited the health facility once were AOR = 2.787 95% CI (1.265-6.142) and twice were AOR =2.704 (1.042-7.018), and with primigravida were AOR = 3.553 95% CI (1.644-7.680) times more likely to use prescribed drugs (except ferrous sulphate). Conclusion: Although majority of the drugs used was appropriate and safe medications according to FDA risk classification system, the prevalence of prescribed medication use during pregnancy is very high in public health center of Wolkite town. Presence of comorbidity, gravidity and time of first visits to health facilities were significantly associated with prescribed drug use during pregnancy.

Abstract: The occurrence and development of tumor are closely related to the imbalance of apoptosis and proliferation regulation. Survivin is a newly discovered member of the apoptosis inhibitory protein (IAP) family with a unique structure. It is widely expressed in embryonic and developmental fetal tissues, with low or no expression in normal terminal differentiated adult tissues, while it is highly expressed in the vast majority of malignant tumor tissues. With the rapid development of molecular biology technology, a significant breakthrough has been made in the molecular mechanism of cell apoptosis. With the discovery that Survivin is involved in regulating two basic processes in cell life, namely inhibiting apoptosis and promoting cell proliferation, and playing a role in cell division and angiogenesis. The high expression of Survivin in malignant tumors indicates its important role in tumor production, apoptosis, and proliferation. The alimentary canal is one of the most common sites of human malignant tumors. In recent years, the incidence rate of alimentary canal tumors has been increasing year by year. Because of the early symptoms being not typical, it is easy to miss diagnosis, and most of them have entered the middle and late stages when diagnosed, which is easy to recur and metastasize, with a high fatality rate and serious harm to human health. Therefore, finding ideal tumor biomarkers for early diagnosis and monitoring prognosis is of great value. This article reviews the research progress of apoptosis inhibitor protein Survivin and its application in esophageal cancer, liver cancer and pancreatic cancer.
