Abstract: Background: Iron deficiency is the leading and single nutrient deficiency in the world affecting over 30% of the world’s population particularly in developing countries. Pregnant women are at high risk of iron deficiency due to increased nutrient requirements during pregnancy. In Ethiopia, only 0.4% of pregnant women take Iron supplements more than 90 days of the recommended 180 days. The factors for this low adherence are not clearly known. Objective: To assess the level of adherence and factors associated with iron-folic acid supplementation among pregnant women attending antenatal service of selected health facilities in Borena South Wollo, Amhara region, Ethiopia. Methodology: Institution-based cross-sectional study design was used to conduct the study. About 340 pregnant women attended health centers in Borena, South Wollo, Amhara region, Ethiopia was included in the study by using a systematic random sampling technique. Data were entered into Epi info version-7 and exported to SPSS version 25 for analysis. Logistic regression was employed to identify the predictor variables. Statistical significance was considered at P<0.05 with an adjusted odds ratio calculated at 95% CI. Result: The overall adherence to iron folate supplement was 45.6%. Husbands educational level [AOR=1.95; 95% CI: 1.07-3.57], history of abortion [AOR=0.162; 95% CI: 0.050-0.53], having diseases diagnosed other than anemia [AOR=0.476; 95% CI: 0.284-0.798], taking of IFA in months [AOR=2.81; 95% CI: 1.365-5.786] and encouragement to take IFA [AOR=0.125; 95% CI: 0.037-0.418] were significantly associated with adherence to iron folate acid supplementation. Conclusion: Adherence to IFA supplement utilization was low in the study area. Provision of health education to pregnant mothers and the community on anemia and the importance of IFA during pregnancy through adequate counseling, community education, and media would increase adherence.

Abstract: Background: Developmental Dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a condition where the head of the femur is dislocated from its normal position and is usually diagnosed in the new-born. In this study we present a case of missed DDH in a 17-month-old child with characteristic X ray findings, to increase its awareness as early diagnosis and treatment can limit disability. Case information: A 17-month-old female child was brought to Urgent Care Centre by her granddad as he noticed that the child was limping. The child was born during the pandemic and the health visitor checks were all over the phone. There was no history of any trauma. Radiographic appearances were consistent with developmental dysplasia of the right hip. Discussion: DDH is usually diagnosed at birth, however, missed cases can occur due to lack of repeated clinical examinations especially in view of the pandemic. Early diagnosis and treatment are very important as timely reduction permits normal modelling of the acetabulum and femoral head. Physical examination is the key in the diagnosis of DDH. Conclusion: Careful, repeated face to face clinical examination by healthcare provider in contact with the infant is essential throughout the first year of life to diagnose DDH early.

Abstract: Aim: This study evaluated profile of health related physical fitness of Academic and Non-academic staff of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Nigeria. Design of the study: An ex-post facto research design was used for this study. Methods: The population for the study was four hundred and seventy-one (471) staff that came out for the study within three months. The sample was made up of 174 academics and 297 Non-academic staff which were purposively selected that participated in the study. The components of health-related physical fitness assessed were; cardio-respiratory fitness, flexibility, muscular endurance, muscular strength and body composition (optimal body fat levels) using appropriate field tests. Results: The result of the study shows that; both the academic and Non-academic staff do not show reasonable level of physical fitness in their body composition, muscular endurance, flexibility and muscular strength. Only the cardio respiratory fitness of participants was good. Conclusion: The study concluded that, both the academic and Non-academic staff of Federal University Dutsin-ma do not possess high profile of physical fitness with emphasis on their body composition, muscular endurance, flexibility and muscular strength which are of the necessity for quality living. It was also found that the level of actual involvement in physical fitness activities was very low. Recommendations: It was recommended that; there is the need for academic and Non-academic staff to be motivated by the University authority by making a policy on participation in physical activity during leisure time in order to reduce incidences of hypokinetic diseases amongst them; more indoor and outdoor facilities to be built to accommodate staffs to participate in sporting activities.

Abstract: Background: Pressure ulcers (PU) are to point to the necrosis or ulcer that local skin or organization causes because of various reasons. This is the last thing a health care worker wants to happen in a medical setting. The occurrence of pressure ulcers would cause the patients' body infection, affect recovery, and then prolong the hospital stay, increase the national medical investment. If patients do not intervene in time, serious consequences such as death may result. Since pressure ulcers occur mainly in prominent areas of the body, studies have recommended prophylactic use of dressings to reduce the incidence of PU. Current prevention measures for PU include assessing factors associated with avoiding skin damage, regulating nutrient intake and using pressure relief pads. Objective: As one of the main materials of pressure relief pad, foam dressing has been gradually applied and promoted. Whether foam dressing is effective in preventing pressure ulcers is a very important issue for patients and medical staff. Finding effective measures to prevent PU can not only improve the quality of care, reduce patients' suffering, but also reduce medical costs. Therefore, guided by evidence-based theory, it is important for caregivers to use the most effective clinical decisions to prevent pressure ulcers and improve patient outcomes. Method: In this paper, 5 studies related to foam dressing were conducted to confirm whether it is safe and effective for the prevention of pressure ulcers, which can further promote the rational selection of clinical prevention measures. Result: All five studies included in the analysis showed that foam dressings had a positive effect on the prevention of stress injuries. Conclusion: Foam dressings are effective in preventing pressure ulcers. It is suggested that the relevant personnel should strictly choose the materials that meet the requirements when using dressings and train the users on the key points of the application process in advance.
