Abstract: One of the important factors in reducing maternal morbidity and mortality is focused antenatal care which considers every pregnant woman who was at high risk for developing pregnancy related complications. Hence, all pregnant women should receive at least four antenatal visits to early identify the complications and intervene accordingly. The study aimed to assess focused antenatal care service utilization and associated factors among mothers who gave birth within 6 month preceding the study in Damot Sore District. A community based cross sectional study was conducted using quantitative methods in April, 2017 in Damot Sore District. Study participants were selected by simple random sampling method from the sampling frame. Data were entered into Epidata 3.1 and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis, and Bivariate and multivariable analysis was used to identify predictors of focused antenatal care service utilization. Variables with odds ratio <=0.05 in multivariable analysis were taken as independent predictors. A total of 490 mothers who have history of antenatal care for their last birth within 6 month preceding the study period were included in the study and 229(46.7%) mothers attended focused antenatal care service. Maternal age (25-34) (AOR= 1.92, 95%CI: 1.20, 3.09), husbands occupation (AOR=1.92, 95%CI: 1.30, 2.83) and women empowerment (AOR= 2.13, 95%CI: 1.43, 3.20) were significantly associated with focused antenatal care service utilization. The majority of pregnant mothers did not attend focused antenatal care during their last pregnancy. Maternal age, husband’s occupation and empowerment were identified as factors affecting focused antenatal care service utilization. Provision of focused antenatal care should be used as an opportunity for early detection of pregnancy related complications.

Abstract: Background: Skin diseases and their complications are a significant burden on the health system of many nations. Skin problem account significant public health issue in developing countries and affects 20-30% of the general population. Pattern of skin diseases vary from region to region which are influenced by various factors and the consequent morbidities have a profound effect on individual and the community. Therefore, the objective of this study was to assess the pattern of skin disease among clients attending dermatologic outpatient clinic at Finote Selam Hospital, West Gojjam Zone, Amhara Region, North West Ethiopia, 2017. Methods and Materials: Hospital based cross-sectional study was conducted and took all individuals during study period at Finote Selam Hospital dermatologic unit. Structured questionnaire was used for interviewing and data was collected using an interviewer administered questionnaire. The data was entered and analysis was done by SPSS version 16.0. Descriptive statistics was done. The magnitude of non infectious skin disease was 62%. The majorities 90 (29.5%) of skin diseases were eczema. Fungal infections 35 (11.5%) were the most common infectious skin problem. Farmers (25.8%) were the most affected group. Nearly two third (63.2%) of skin diseases were at urban. The magnitude of non infectious skin disease was relatively higher than infectious skin disease. Eczema was highly prevailing skin diseases. Therefore, early diagnosis and treatment of skin disease, aware dermatologic disease for health professional, available necessary medication and Educate the patients to consult the health professionals when they have skin problem were recommended.

Abstract: Herbomineral formulations are used extensively in the world-wide for the prevention and treatment of a wide range of disorders. A new proprietary herbomineral formulation was formulated consisted of an ashwagandha root extract and minerals (zinc, magnesium, and selenium). The present study was aimed to evaluate the impact of the Biofield Energy Treated herbomineral formulation in male Sprague Dawley (SD) rats for immune biomarkers modulation. The test formulation was divided into two parts. One part was denoted as the control without any Biofield Energy Treatment, while the other part was defined as the Biofield Energy Treated sample, which received the Biofield Energy Healing Treatment remotely from twenty renowned Biofield Energy Healers. The experimental parameters studies were humoral immune response (primary and secondary titre), delayed type hypersensitivity reaction, animal weight parameters, feed and water intake, histopathology, hematological and serum biochemistry. The humoral immune response exhibited that both the primary and secondary hemagglutination (HA) antibody titre levels were significantly altered by 14.79% and 12.89%, respectively in the Biofield Energy Treated test formulation group (G4) compared to the disease control group (G2). The delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) response was significantly (p≤0.05) increased by 55.56% in the G4 group compared to the G2 group. The hematological results revealed that the platelet count was significantly increased by 8.46% in the G4 group with respect to the G2 group. Moreover, the level of phosphorus was significantly increased by 11.16% and 16.35% in the levamisole (G3) and G4 groups, respectively compared to the G2 group. In conclusion, the Biofield Energy Treated Test Formulation would be the powerful immunomodulatory product, which was found safe at the tested doses. Therefore, The Trivedi Effect®-Biofield Energy Healing based herbomineral formulation can be applied to potentiate the immune system that helps to fight against many infectious diseases. Overall, these data suggest that the Biofield Energy Treated test formulation can be used for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, stress management and prevention, and anti-aging by improving overall health.

Abstract: Among women globally, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy and the leading cause of cancer mortality. Moreover, for racial/ethnic minorities and those of low socioeconomic status (SES), these groups experience a poorer quality of life and diminished survival. This is due, in part, to underutilization of mammography screening and a lack of adherence to subsequent follow-up guidelines. The purpose of this study is to gain insight on perceptions of and interest in mobile mammography unit (MMU) utilization among African American (AA) women, primarily of low SES; as well as obtain strategies for effective information dissemination. Researchers partnered with local grocery stores, community centers, churches, shopping centers and hair salons to act as recruitment sites. Each establishment was within a 10 mile radius of the multi-service center being used to conduct the focus groups. Participant eligibility included: (a) the individual must be female, (b) between 35 and 65 years of age, (c) a current resident of Harris County, Texas, (d) self-identified as AA and (e) had no previous cancer history. Sixty-one AA women participated across six focus groups. The focus groups revealed that participants perceived the availability of MMUs as an effective strategy to increase guideline adherence. In addition, all participants stated MMUs would be of interest to women in their communities. Various suggestions to strengthen engagement were conveyed by participants as well. Specifically, offering services during non-traditional hours and in highly accessible locations; and partnering with community venues and incorporating principles of social support were conveyed.
